Book Review: Burning Boats – The Birth of Muslim Spain

Hello friends!

I was given a review copy of a phenomenal book recently, Burning Boats: The Birth of Muslim Spain. My thoughts are below, but you can check out the book on Amazon & Goodreads.

To say i enjoyed this book is an understatement. This is a fantastic book for anybody interested in learning about one of Spain’s most crucial time periods! I’ve read and studied a lot about The Muslim’s conquest of Spain and the life of Tariq bin Zayad. Most of what I have read has been academic work written in a scholarly fashion, so that was what I expected as I began to read this work. However, I was pleasantly surprised.

Although this is a historical work with accurate information, it is written in the form of a story, complete with illustrations and excellent formatting. The writing is both suitable for adults and children. I would highly recommend this for both those who have read extensively on the subject and also for those just starting to study it. At 60 pages, it is a very quick read, but it still does the subject justice!

To top it all off, the way the book’s interior is designed is simply beautiful!

Definitely a FIVE STAR review from me! I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.
